Whaddya know? Premium AntiSpam for Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange fails to detect spam

Solution:
To resolve the problem, perform the following tasks in this order:

1. Enable Premium AntiSpam
2. Confirm that Premium AntiSpam is set to reject spam messages
3. Stop Symantec Mail Security services.
4. Fix possible license problems.
5. Fix possible ruleset corruption problems.
6. Restart Symantec Mail Security services.
7. Reinstall your licenses.
8. Reset IIS to remove any cached values.

To enable Premium AntiSpam

1. In the Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange interface, in the left pane, click Policies.
2. In the middle pane, click Premium AntiSpam Settings.
3. Check Enable Premium AntiSpam.

To confirm that Premium AntiSpam is set to reject spam messages

1. In the Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange interface, in the left pane, click Policies.
2. In the middle pane, click Premium AntiSpam Settings.
3. Under If message is Spam, check Reject the message.

Whaddya know what Wireless Card to use going overseas? Try Sierra Wireless AirCard 881U service provided by Sprint Nextel.

I've tested the Sprint Sierra Wireless Compass 597 here in the US the result is better bandwidth and faster internet access compared to Verizon Wireless Broadband Novatel Wireless USB727. If you have a different opinion, please add it here.

Now let's go beyond USA wireless internet data, what about travelling international? I have to try Sierra Wireless Aircard 881U (USB) for 2 different countries for Sprint International service. For this specific destination, we are using GSM network because the CDMA service is not available to these countries.

Installation of Sierra Wireless Aircard 881U (USB) software on your workstation. It should be automatic when you insert the card to one of your laptop USB, and if not open your My Computer, on the USB drive, click on the Setup.exe to install the software. It will create a short-cut to your desktop named as "3G Watcher".

Testing your 3G Watcher software for Sierra Wireless Aircard 881U card is not possible within USA. The Sprint Customer Care provides 1-817 number for technical assistance for GSM or CDMA for international support.

So aside Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla (firefox), Netscape, AOL browser and other internet browser, let's add Google Chrome to the list. With the introduction of HDTV, there are more lines transmitted (at either more than double interlaced or progressively) giving us a higher resolution and better quality picture.

1. High Definition Television set
   
   High Definition television sets are available at most consumer electronic stores and are becoming increasingly more affordable for the general public. These sets are the first step in obtaining a clearer, picture that provides an experience similar to the movie theater.


2. A source (local television, cable or satellite station)
   
   Even with a HDTV, you may not notice any difference in normal channels. Your channel must be broadcast in high definition in order to see the advanced quality in picture.


3. A way to receive the signal (antennae, cable or satellite system)

All providers are generally offering some HD channels. Satellite providers are able to offer more of these channels than your local cable company. Be aware that digital channels often offered through cable companies is not the same as HDTV.

Advanced Installation with Port Forwarding - Vonage VOIP Internet Phone

Ok I've changed my phone service from Verizon to Vonage to save some $ to my pocket. The setup takes a while due to my firewall configuration preventing Vonage to establish connection.

If you're geek enough to configure your cable modem, then here's a simple guide to customize your Firewall policy to allow Vonage service or VOIP service to go out. And if you can't configure your Firewall, I suggest that you get in touch with your local computer tech guys for assistance.

I have a cable modem SBG900 Surfboard Gateway configuring the firewall using the following policies:

Outgoing Policies

VONAGE_dns Port 53 UDP

VONAGE_tftp Port 21, 69, 2400 UDP

VONAGE_http Port 80 UDP

VONAGE_ntp Port 123 UDP

VONAGE_sip Port 5061 UDP

Incoming and Outgoing Policies

VONAGE_rtp (voice) traffic Port 10000-20000 UDP. When a call is made, a random port between 10000 and 20000 is used for RTP (Voice) traffic.

HOWTO: Transfer outlook cache "to" field to new computer?

How to transfer outlook cache to a new computer?

I always forget this information so I blog it here and share to the world.

You just need to copy one file e.g. outlook.nk2 to your new computer and you will have your outlook cache file again.

Where to find the outlook.nk2 file?
The default location should be in your profile Outlook folder, here's the example path.
c:\Documents and Settings\loginname\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

where; the loginname is your user information when you login to your workstation.

How to transfer outlook.nk2 file to your new workstation?
You can use the following information on how to transfer file(s).

• The easiest approach, use USB drive to copy and tranfer file from one computer to another.
• Send the outlook.nk2 file as attachment using your email. Read this email to your new workstation and save the file to the outlook folder.
• Shared folder to copy file
• Call your local computer geek to help you.
• Send me e-mail. I normally reply within 2-8 hours.

And to delete the e-mail address in your outlook cache, follow this procedure:

1. Start by creating a "new mail message"
2. Type the e-mail address, use the Down arrow key to select, then use Delete key to remove the e-mail address.
3. Repeat the process to remove other e-mail address that you want out of your cache.

One in three IT staff snoops on co-workers

One in three information technology professionals abuses administrative passwords to access confidential data such as colleagues' salary details, personal emails or board-meeting minutes, according to a survey.

U.S. information security company Cyber-Ark surveyed 300 senior IT professionals, and found that one-third admitted to secretly snooping, while 47 percent said they had accessed information that was not relevant to their role.

For Exchange server at work, here's one positive add-on for you. With iPhone Software version 2.0 you can now pull your email from your company Exchange Server via ActiveSync connection. As of writing this article, the ActiveSync is available in Exchange Server version 2003 and 2007.

iPhone users now can access the enterprise resources using Cisco IPSec VPN and wireless network services with WPA2 and 802.1X authentication. The WPA2 is the enhance protocal version for WIFI security a program administer by WIFI Alliance. The WPA2 implements the mandatory element of 802.11i.

Other additional features really matter to business users:
Better email management, mass support of email move and delete. You can organize the groups of messages by moving them to a folders.

Contact search is now available. The software now include a search field to find a name within your contact database. The search extend to Global Address List (GAL) if you configure you iPhone sync with your corporate email exchange server.

iPhone v2.0 with e-mail attachment support using iWork and Microsoft PowerPoint files. I'm not sure with other Microsoft Office software yet!

iPhone v2.0 support additional languages e.g. ofcourse English, French (France), French (canada), Germany, Japanese, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, Portugese (Portugal), Portugese (Brazil), Dannish, Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish, Korean, Simplied Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Russian and Polish.

Scientific Calculator is cool though I will not use it as compare to the regular calculator. The students that use iPhone will surely benefit upgrading to version 2.0.

I will only discuss the Blackberry Internet Service (BIS) for individual use. This HOW TO guide is applicable to Verizon, Cingular/AT&T or T-Mobile as your phone service provider.

Before you begin to setup your blackberry phone, you need to have a Blackberry Internet Service (BIS) added to your phone service. Yes, this is additional fee to your existing bill. As of this date, the BIS fee approximately from $39.95 to $49.95 or less per month depending which phone company you are in.

Example:
I'm using Cingular as the blackberry internet service provider, it will be the same for Verizon or T-Mobile.

This information is coming from your BIS phone service provider, where you can add one or more email addresses.

How to Export and Import mailboxes to PST files in Exchange 2007 SP1

I'm searching a tool replacement of exmerge for Exchange Server 2007 SP1 and I stumbled to this article. I thought it would be useful to spread out this article. Post back if you have any question. Enjoy.

There might be times when an Exchange Administrator will need to export the contents of individual mailboxes to offline files in order to present specific users with a format that is easily portable and ready to consume using Outlook clients. To fulfill this need Exchange 2007 SP1 will have a new set of features to export and import mailboxes to and from PST files. As I know you will ask - yes, those PST files can be bigger than 2 GB, which was a limitation of Exmerge tool used for this purpose in previous versions of Exchange.

Export/Import to PST Requirements
In order to export or import mailboxes to PST files the following requirements must be met:

• Export/Import to PST must be run from a 32 bit client machine with Exchange Management Tools installed (Version Exchange 2007 SP1 or later). The 32bit requirement comes from a dependency with the Outlook client.


• Either Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007 must be installed on the client machine.
  The user running the task must be an Exchange Organization Admin or an Exchange Server Admin on the server where the mailbox to export/import lives.

Exporting mailboxes to PST files

The most basic cmdlet to export a mailbox to a PST file is as follows:
Export-Mailbox –Identity -PSTFolderPath

PSTFolderPath must be a full path pointing either to a directory or to a (.pst) file. If a directory is specified a PST file named after the mailbox alias will be used as the target of the export. Note that if the PST file already exists the contents of the mailbox will be merged into it.
